Safari theme rooms give you the opportunity to bring in your daring personality in a big way. You also need to take a few precautions so that your guests will also enjoy the space. Plus, you don't want to spend a lot of money on items that you can't use again. Here are a few tips for decorating safari theme rooms.
Skip all of the little accessories. Sure, you find plates with monkeys on them or leopard place mats but that doesn't mean that it will add anything to your room. It will probably just make your entire space seem smaller and cluttered. Instead, use a few large pieces of artwork that will make a big impact. Everything else in your room should be neutral.
Focus on nature. If animal prints aren't your thing then be inspired by a sunset. You can really liven up a basic taupe and beige room just by bringing in oversized artwork. Sunset photographs bring in a variety of pinks, purples and oranges in a subtle way that is still elegant. Balance this room with dark furniture in espresso and ebony tones for an elegant air that can still hold up to daring prints.
There's a difference between decorating a nursery and a living room. You can add in sophistication to the nursery but be sure that your choices for the living room aren't too juvenile. You want your space to be elegant while still expressing your personality and being functional for your family. If you have too many prints or colors in one space then you might not even want to spend time in the room because it's too overwhelming or gives you a headache.
Know when it's time to stop. Sure, the store might have a cheetah carpet but that doesn't mean you have to use it. With all these kind of rooms it's important to pay attention to good taste. One really beautiful zebra striped rug can get as much attention as ten small accessories. This decorating approach ensures that your furniture can still work with different design styles so it helps out your future budget.
Safari theme rooms are bold but that doesn't mean that they have to be overwhelming. You might want to have a little restraint and just use this theme in one or two rooms in your home so you don't go overboard. With a little design knowledge you can make this theme work in almost any room in your house.
