Everyone has a different point of view when they are thinking about what kind of bathroom lighting to be installed in a room. Many times the lights are dependable on the room's width and length, but others will include beauty with the functionality of the space. Spotlights or recessed lighting can draw people towards special tile designs or artwork. The design in the bathroom will also decide which light fixtures are used. The options are really limitless, even when the room is small.

There are several things to consider when choosing the right kind of lighting and fixtures for your bathroom. Most use traditional bathroom lighting, which features three to four different lights displayed on a common electrical circuit. The traditional fixtures usually look like small hurricane vase covers but are actually fluted glass globes. The globes can face upward and cast the wide light up or vice versa. If you are using a tiered wall sconce, the finish is usually in pewter or brass.

If you have more of a colonial-style or country home, such as a cabin or a cottage, many times rustic-style fixtures are used. The fixtures are either simulated wood or wood at the base. Some will use plain black wrought iron or a woven or cotton lampshade over the traditional lighting. Many times these lights use a single-hanging lamp or a sconce strung together with several lights.

If contemporary fixtures are used, these lights are functional and simple. It can be art deco or have more of a minimalist look. They are normally more of a clean and cool look, coming in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. It doesn't matter what kind of bathroom lighting is chosen, make sure it is energy star and has fixtures that match everything else in the room.
