Having a theme, not only when decorating a room, is important. Even when we host a party, we also set a theme for it. With a theme, you would easily have the exact decorations, items, clothes to wear, etc. that you want in the party. The same thing applies in the home. Setting a theme will guide you on what furniture, fixtures and decorations to purchase. You can also choose the best color combination that you want. A home can have one theme and this can apply to all the rooms of the home. However, the bedroom can be an exemption. You do not need to conform to the theme of the home. You can have your own theme in your bedroom so it will exude your individuality.

Here are a few bedroom themes that you may want to apply in your room.

The modern Italian theme

Earthy tones are typical Italian colors like gray, which can be used for the walls. Have a round, light brown, Italian leather bed then hang about two or three mirrors in different shapes and place them behind the bed. Position a long glass top table in front of your bed and put a plant on its top. Place sleek leather chairs on either side of this table. With gray and brown upholstery, you have your modern Italian-themed bedroom.

The modern dramatic theme

If you are a bit theatrical, you may opt to have a small amount of drama in your room. To do this, use full length dark-olored mirrors to cover your walls. Choose a low-height bed that is made of light-colored wood. Choose the color of lemon for your upholstery. Put a lemon-colored area rug in front of your bed. Purchase a red liquid table lamp and put it on top of your nightstand. The red color of the lamp will provide the drama in the room and pair this with red pillows. Add different kinds of lights for additional drama.

The modern Japanese theme

Going Asian or Oriental is nice. Adapting a Japanese theme would make your sanctuary modern and sleek. Of course, your decorations and furniture will focus on Japanese items. You can have an accent wall here. Use red as your accent wall and assign that to the wall behind your bed. Paint the rest of the walls in white. This combination is typically oriental. You can opt to have a Japanese tatami bed or a low wooden platform bed. Upholstery and curtains must be in white. Have a long log-shaped pillow on the bed and cover it with a white pillow case. To make it look more Japanese, try to find one with Japanese inscriptions. You can have it embroidered if you want. Your nightstands must be made of wood, too. Put a Japanese bamboo plant on one table and a table lamp on the other one. Hang a Japanese artwork on the wall above your bed. Get an oriental rug and place it in front of your bed.

The modern fun theme

If you are sassy, this theme would suit you well. This may also be applied to a teenager's room. Use mauve for your walls. Choose all-white furniture that has different geometrical shapes. Hang various sizes of photos, frames, artworks or whatever so long that they are of differing shapes on top of your bed. Make sure that they have varying colors, too. Choose white upholstery and curtains. Pillows must be of varying colors to add contrast to your white linens. Ensure that the top of your nightstand is clean and orderly.

The modern romantic theme

Couples may opt to have this theme although this can be had by anyone who is romantic, sweet and tender. The red color is the best choice, as this is the color of romance. However, do not paint your walls in red but rather paint it in cream. All other accessories must be in red color such as table lamp, chandelier, vase or scented candles. Choose pink silk or satin for your upholstery. Have some photos of women covering half of their faces or some photos that would add a bit of mystery. This will contribute to the passion that must be present in a romantic-themed bedroom. Have a CD player for soft romantic music.

Whatever bedroom theme you choose from the above, always make sure that it is something that speaks about you. You can also think of other themes. Anyway, the most important thing is you like the look of your bedroom.
