Nobody wants their inner sanctum (read bathroom) to be cluttered with little bottles of lotion and moisturizer, or to always have to mediate between their children squabbles over whose things should be kept where in the bathroom cabinet. True, a small bathroom can bring about a challenge in terms of storage space, but there are a few simple things you can do.
The first thing is to install a couple of shelves in the bathroom. If it is small, consider narrow shelves that extend upwards, they would be great for keeping your private effects and poisonous substances out of sight and out of reach of small children.
You can only install a number of shelves though. Where these fail, consider any one of the bathroom storage units that are available. A good vanity unit for instance, should take care of all your storage needs. Better still, most vanity units today come with wash sinks and a mirror, thus serving many purposes in one, and reducing the amount of space taken up by these other pieces.
A bathroom cabinet is also a great idea. Most have shelves where you can keep all your personal effects though you should ask while buying just to be sure, some companies may need you to pay extra to have these installed. A long narrow cabinet can serve in the same way as narrow shelves would, only better. Avoid bathroom cabinets that are open because that defeats the purpose of buying it which was to keep personal effects out of sight.
Another very simple thing that does the trick in small bathrooms is hiding items-in plain sight. This can be done using hampers or bathroom bags to keep linen in, or a nice basket to store fresh towels. These are easily available at your local store.
As for the squabbling children, the one thing that could reduce the quarrels would be to color code their bath things and assign them each a spot within the bathroom vanity unit or in the bathroom cabinet. This might even be a clever way to keep the bathroom tidy as you could be rewarding the child whose things have been kept away in the best way.
Finally, and most importantly too, to save on your bathroom storage space, clean it out and get rid of the things that are not necessary. Your bathroom might be cluttered with bottles of lotion that nobody uses, or other personal effects that have been long forgotten. Get rid of these and be amazed as you begin to see space in your bathroom that you could not possibly have imagined was there.
