The options for bathtubs are limitless. Those who love the art deco period may opt for a clawfoot tub. In some cases, the only changes needed are a reglazing. If a person has been recently disabled, it may be necessary to change a tub to make it more accessible, especially if a wheelchair is being used.  One thing is for sure, because tubs and showers are the largest components in a bathroom, it can be a difficult decision should one choose to remodel.
Just as a kitchen is important to the value of a home, so is the bathroom. It is often the place one enters upon waking and it is where once takes care of their daily personal maintenance. The disabled will find bathtubs with walk-in or slide in capabilities. These tubs offer an additional benefit when manufacturers use safety details that prevent the doors from unlatching as long as the tub contains water. The disabled are then able to bath on their own.
For those that are not looking for a complete replacement, help is on the way. Sometimes all it takes to turn a bland shower into a spa is by adding a few details. Updating the shower head can make quite a bit of difference. For very little money, a deluxe showerhead that maximizes water pressure, providing a full spray. Other showerheads offer massage spray, a great way to work out the kinks while getting clean. Bathtubs can be updated by updating the fixtures. New spigots and handles can change the overall appearance and theme in just a few hours. Refinishing a tub can get rid of the dinginess that appears after years of use. A little work and it is as good as new. These can be performed as diy projects, but for the unsure, have a professional contractor handle the rough stuff.
For those changing the whole look with a new tub or shower, consider first the look that is to be conveyed before buying. If there is an Asian theme, perhaps a standing bathtub surrounded by a bench and bamboo accents can change the feel. In a more contemporary or clean design, chrome fixtures with squared design can update the look. The choices are endless when it comes to bathtubs and showers.
