If you have that designer bent of mind, redesigning your bathroom to look and feel more spacious than it is, should come easy to you. If you're not that good with bathroom floor plans or designs, here are some tips...
  • Pale and soft hues of paint are known to give an illusion of a larger space. You may complement the overall pastel or neutral tone with accessories and towels in vibrant and exciting colors.

  • Adding a window or skylight is sure to enhance your bathroom area, making it appear larger than it actually is. Make sure to add either of these near the ceiling so that no wall space is hogged. Another smart option is adding a large mirror over the sink or on any other unused wall space to create the effect of a spacious bathroom.

  • Reserve one corner for a narrow yet deep shower space. Use a clear glass shower door or a curtain which can be pushed to one side when not in use, instead of a frosted-glass door. This will eliminate visual obstruction and make the room seem larger. Also, small corner bathtubs are a perfect choice to use up the corner space in a suitable manner and make your small bathroom feel roomier. A small corner bathtub can be put to double use as a shower with appropriate fixtures and a shower curtain.

  • A large sink with a vanity underneath is an excellent idea for making the most of your limited space. Alternatively, you can get a very sleek pedestal sink or a wall-mounted one. After all, how much sink space do you really need to brush and shave? Instead of that huge vanity you can invest in tall and slender cabinets to maximize use of vertical space, simultaneously saving you floor space.

  • There is a lot of usable space above your toilet bowl. Use it to create storage for towels or other bathroom linen, albeit at such a height so as not to interfere with the use or cleaning of the toilet.

  • Search for a framed picture of the right size that looks like a window with beautiful natural scenery. Choose it to adorn the largest empty wall of your bathroom and enhance the feeling of spaciousness.

  • Prefer delicate and smaller fixtures so that minimum space is used and you have more left to use your creativity. Remove any accessories that stick out of the wall, cause visual obstruction and make your room smaller. There is always a better alternative to get the most out of your existing bathroom space. Moreover, a neat and tidy bathroom certainly looks larger than a cluttered one. Make sure that you keep only needed stuff and use don't use more accessories or decorations than you need.
