Ranges like Vail bathroom furniture, in a glossy, contemporary white finish with lots of sizes to choose from and a choice of worktop options available too, can make your bathroom look strikingly well designed and up to date.

With a choice of vanity units, storage units and combination units, WC units, and wall mounted cabinets available in a variety of sizes to suit any bathroom, the range is particularly good for a bathroom that requires fittings in a number of widths. And of course, like most bathroom furniture, the Vail range is a great design solution, bringing a coordinated look and plenty of storage capacity to what may previously have been a messily organised or cluttered bathroom.

If you're unsure of what bathroom furniture you need, the best way to begin is by thinking logically about how you use your bathroom. It's best to consider this first, before you look at what's available - or, if you're anything like me, you'll end up buying the items that are on offer and then struggling to make them suitable for your purposes.

The aim is to end up with a bathroom design that suits you and fits in your bathroom perfectly.

So, are you in need of a lot of storage cabinets? Do you prefer drawers, in which you can organise a multitude of items and pick out the ones you need each day with ease? Or would you prefer one big cupboard for bulk items, and some open shelving for your daily use toiletries? When it comes to your basin, do you want storage above or beneath, and do you prefer a wall hung or floor standing look? And what about your other items - your shower and/or bath? Do you want one of each, and if so, does your bathroom furniture need to be space saving so that you can fit both items in? Or perhaps your bathroom is large, or you're happy with a shower bath, so there's no need to skimp on furniture.

Remember ease of use as well. You need at least 60cm 'user room' in front of the basin and toilet, and 70cm alongside the bath (if you have one). This prevents you knocking your elbows or feeling hemmed in, so it's important to allow at least this much space when you plan your bathroom layout, otherwise using your bathroom will be a less enjoyable experience than you might hope for.

Measure your bathroom before you shop: you need to be aware of all the angles, lengths of wall, and distances between fixed points such as doors and windows, so that you know precisely what can be fitted where.

Vail vanity units are available in sizes from a tiny 325mm wide and 270mm deep through to a larger 600mm wide and 400mm deep; storage units from 300 to 410mm wide; wall mounted units; WC units with and without an attached storage cupboard; and there's much more. Combination packs are sold which, for ease of fitting, can be separated into their individual components: vanity units, wall mounted basin cabinets, WC units, and storage units in different widths. Once you know what you're looking for, you should have no difficulty in sourcing it.
