Perfect Bedroom Furniture for Your Teen Daughter

Remember that much of teenage daughter's time at home is now going to be spent on her own, with her own preference behind the locked doors of her room. So set the stage by making that room as inviting as possible and as memorable as you can for her later years. While you possibly cannot do much about the size of her bedroom, you could begin by ensuring it is as airy and well-lit with natural light as much as possible, since she will be spending most of her time locked up in there with her computer, her cell phone, her art and her dreams. Textured walls, coated with enamel paint are a good idea. They seem to provide a little more resilience against the regular taping on and peeling off of photographs and posters. Better yet, provide her with a large cork board on one wall, tastefully latticed with ribbons, to display all her current attractions and memorabilia. While treasured Barbie dolls and stuffed toy companions suddenly make a disappearance, there Is still a medley of graphics of Bambi, cuddly penguins, movie stars and macho models that need prominent display. Now that the backdrop is set, begin with choosing the bedroom furniture.

A huge selection of beds is available for a teenager's bedroom, from low and wide to bunks and lofts. Your teen will be inviting her best friend around for a sleepover frequently, so even if she's the only girl at home, a loft bed would still come in handy. It also has so much appeal in a teenage habitat. If there is a shortage of space, a roll-out bed would be more convenient. Natural wood has warmer, more comforting tones than painted or wrought iron bedroom furniture. Stay with the unostentatious, low maintenance wood in perhaps rustic style. Choose her duvet or bed spread in her favorite colors, plumped up with an array of cushions in a variety of shapes, sizes and textures.

A chest of drawers would provide ample space for newly acquired cosmetics and toiletries, music system and photo frames. You can't overdo it on storage space with your teen. Hang a large mirror on the wall above it. She will need a wardrobe with enough hanging space within for dresses, tunics and jeans as well as shelf space for other articles of clothing. Provide hooks for belts, and trays for underclothing so that there isn't the daily panic of not finding the right item. She will need a desk for her homework or coursework, which should also contain as much drawer and cabinet space as possible beneath it. Having installed the basic bedroom furniture, if the size of the room allows it, you could place a couple of wooden cubes to multi-task as book space and knick-knacks display.
